I'm glad you liked them. Thanks for the nice things you said in your letter.

I didn't write much, but that's because I did say that we'd talk in person. And I didn't write them to be nice.

It's not an easy memory to put into words, so his thought shares the image burned into his mind as he delays answering. The glimpse Maya gets is from Sieghart's point of view and brief: against the backdrop of a ruins in flames, countless maimed bodies lie scattered in various stages of burning with their blood staining the floor a dark red.

The vision fades almost as quickly as it appeared. Sieghart finds his voice then, though he looks straight ahead and not at Maya.]
